END OF LIFE DOULA CARE

The International End of Life Doula Association defines a death doula as someone who guides a dying person and their loved ones through the dying process. 

Obviously this is a huge statement which can encompass SO MUCH as there are so many details involved in the conclusion of a life, but that is a place to start. 

• Providing bedside presence and vigil support for the family and dying individual.
• Caregiver support; providing breaks and emotional assistance to primary caregivers.
• Art projects and emotional support for kids suffering grief and loss. 
• Organizing and practical care: helping clear clutter in the home, go through belongings, coordination of items to be donated, etc. 
• Resource guide: helping families connect with therapists, estate planners, legal assistance, etc. 

I completed my End of Life Doula training through the organization, Going With Grace.
